PROCEDURE TEXT
Hello everyone! How are you all? I hope you all stay healthy and safe during this pandemic. Today, i will explain to you what is a procedure text.
Procedure text is a text that explain how something works or how to use instruction or operation manuals e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax.
There are 2 types of procedure text : Recipe Procedure Text and Manual Procedure Text.
1. Recipe Procedure Text
A list of ingredients and a set of instructions that tell you how to cook something.
Generic Structure of Recipe
- Goal/Aim, contains the purpose on how to make something.
- Ingredients, describes the elements we need to make something.
- Steps/Methods, describes the set of instructions.
Language Faetures of Recipe
- Using simple present tense.
- Using adverbial of sequence or using temporal adjective.
- Using imperative sentences or command.
- Using adverb of time to express details of time.
The Purpose of Recipe
- Used to describe how something is made in sequenced steps.
- Provides a series of steps in sequence that explains the readers how to make something.
- To tell the steps on how to make something.
2. Manual Procedure Text
A book or pamphlet that contains explanation about how something should be done in a sequenced steps.
Generic Structure of Manual
- Goal/Aim, contains the purpose on how to make something.
- Materials, describes the tools we need to do, make, or operate something.
- Instructions, describes the set of instructions.
Language Features of Manual
- Using simple present tense.
- Using adverbial of sequence or using temporal adjectives.
- Using imperative sentences or command.

- To tell the steps of making or doing something.
