EXPOSITION TEXT
Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. How are you all? I hope you all are doing okay and healthy in this pandemic. Today, i am going to explain about exposition text.
What is an exposition text? Exposition text is a piece of text that present one side of an issue. The purpose of exposition text is to persuade the reader or listener by presenting one side of an argument. Exposition text can be the form of advertisement, spoken argument, and editorials.There are two types of exposition text, which are analytical and hortatory.
Analytical Exposition Text
A text that elaborates the writer's idea about the phenomenon surrounding.It's social function is to persuade the reader that the idea is important matter.
Text structure :
1. Thesis, introducing the topic and indicating the writer's position.
2. Arguments, explaining the arguments to support writer's position.
3. Reiteration, consist of conclusion of the thesis and argument.
Language features :
1. Relational Process.
2. Internal Conjunction.
3. Causal Conjunction.
4. Simple Present Tense.
Hortatory Exposition Text
A text that represent the attempt of the writer to have the addressee do something or act in certain way.
Text structure :
1. Thesis, introducing the topic and indicating the writer's position.
2. Arguments, explaining the arguments to support writer's position.
3. Recommendation, contains the suggestions of the author of thesis and arguments.
Language features :
1. Focusing on the writer.
2. Using abstract nouns, policy, advantage, etc.
3. Using action verb, thinking verb, modal adverb.
4. Using temporal connectivity.
5. Using evaluating words.
6. Passive voice.
7. Simple present tense.
