PROCEDURE TEXT : HOW TO DO
Hello everyone! It is nice to meet you all again in this blog. Today, i want to explain to you about How To Do on a procedure text. I will also explain about imperative sentence, must and must not, sentence connectors, and adverbs.
As i told you on my previous blog, the purpose of procedure text is to tell the reader how to do something. The information is presented in logical sequence of events that are broken into steps. For example, steps of activities, tips or tricks, treatments, etc.
There are some language rules on a procedure text.
1. Imperative Sentence
An imperative sentence gives a command, demand, or instructions directly to an audience, and typically begins with an action word (or verb). These sentences often appear to lack a subject, or the person, place, or thing that performs the main action. This is because the subject of this type of sentence tends to be the audience that’s being directly addressed or commanded to do something.
Example : Please remain seated until the seatbelt sign is off.
2. Must and Mustn't
Must is a word that imposes a legal obligation on your readers to tell them something is mandatory.
Example : You must close the door.
Mustn't is a word that imposes a legal obligation on your readers to tell them something is not mandatory.
3. Sentence Connectors
Sentence connectors are used to link ideas from one sentence to the next and to give paragraphs coherence.
Example : First of all, After that, Next.
4. Adverbs
Adverbs is a a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, and so on.
Example : Slowly, Suddenly, Strongly.
That is it for today's blog, see you on my next one! Good bye.
